* In 1986 I became a member at Maidstone
Golf Club after many years of waiting without any sound reason.
* I was fortunate enough to start my formal golfing career as a 3 handicap and that took everyone by a suprise even myself.
* The very same year I lost my amateur status for having taken cash in a tournament that was sponsored by Gary Player which was held Roodeport Country Club.
* Players at my club told me that I am no longer an Amateur as a result I was not allowed to take part in any club competitions
* Mr Ken Forbes who is now late assisted me in writing a letter to the South African Golfers Association (SAGA) and I asked him to plead guilty and asked for forgiveness.
* I was still young and fairly new in golf and I did not understand the difference between Professional Golfers and Amateur Golfers and the implications.
* By the look of things my forgiveness plea was not accepted as I was still given a 2 year sentence by the South African Golfers Association (SAGA) in writing.
* I served two years not being allowed to take part in any amateur tournaments.
* In 1986 to 1988 I served my sentence for a crime I did not know about.
* What suprised me is that black golfers had no link with white golfers at that time but they still found me guilty of having taken a small amount of money from that tournament.
* In 1988 I returned to amateur golf and In 1989 I was selected to play for KwaZulu Natal Province.
